2. Does your certificate allow you to study at universities in your home country?
To legally qualify for university entry in Germany (HZB), your secondary school-leaving certificate must first grant you general university access in the country where you graduated.
3. Does your certificate qualify for direct admission?
Note: THWS can only officially verify your Higher Education Entrance Qualification (HZB) during the application process.
You can check your status beforehand in the DAAD database – simply answer the questions about your educational path and you will get a (non-binding) result regarding your eligibility. What is your result in the database?
4. Do you have an English language certificate for CEFR-Level B2 (upper intermediate) or higher?
Direct Admission Likely!
Certificates from the EU usually grant direct access to German higher education. You most likely do not need a Pre-Year and can apply directly for Engineering Science (B.Eng.) or Health and Environmental Psychology (B.Sc.).

In order to study at a German university (including our Online Pre-Year and Bachelor programmes), your school-leaving certificate must legally qualify you for university admission in your home country first.
Additionally, you must provide proof of English proficiency at CEFR level B2. Accepted certificates usually include TOEFL iBT (min. 72 points), IELTS Academic (min. 6.0), Cambridge Quality English, or equivalent official tests.
