For your success
As a full-time programme, the Advanced Materials Engineering (Transnational) programme comprises a standard study period of seven semesters, including an international internship semester. Students will graduate with a German engineering degree that is recognised in Jordan as well.
For the students who need to qualify for the programme by completing the pre-year at GJU, its two semesters will add up to a total of nine semesters - still less than the usual ten semesters of a regular Jordanian engineering programme. Most of the courses of the pre-year are accredited for the degree programme, reducing the workload in the following semesters and saving time capacities for the German language courses.
The pre-year as well as the first four semesters of the degree programme will be taught by GJU and THWS lecturers at GJU in Jordan. The last three semesters will be taught exclusively by THWS in Würzburg, Germany. Students will receive intensive German language and intercultural training to prepare them for a successful stay abroad.
Based on the German model of applied sciences, students gain practical experience through practice projects, lab sessions, a full internship semester and an industry-related bachelor thesis. Employability is at the heart of the curriculum, preparing students for their professional career.
In the pre-year and the first two semesters, mainly fundamental subjects are taught. This includes laboratory courses and student projects as a part of individual modules. Students will have general engineering courses such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, electrical engineering or engineering mechanics. As well as more specific courses such as ceramics, design, polymer chemistry, injection moulding, rubber technology, sustainability and recycling of plastics or automatisation, digitalisation and production management.
In the 6th semester, students have an internship semester in a company. This allows them to gain experience in professional practice according to their future study focus. In the 7th semester, students will write their bachelor thesis.
Students are now ready and well-prepared to enter the job market. Immediately upon graduation, they can kick-start their professional career.
