From June 3rd to 7th, THWS transformed into an international education hub for the annual International Teaching Week, themed ‘One Knowledge. One Future.’ This event brought together guest professors and lecturers from diverse countries and specialities, who conducted lectures and workshops. This year, some professors from the two THWS Hosted Programmes, offered in collaboration with the German Jordanian University (GJU) in Amman, Jordan, were also present.

Prof. Dr. Christine Huth-Hildebrandt, Dr. Nada Eltaiba, and Farah Alhamouri from the Social Work Department at the German Jordanian University (GJU) offered invaluable insights through discussions on ‘Jordan, Refugees and Social Work’ and ‘International Social Work: Insights from the Middle East.’ These sessions highlighted the intersection of social work practices and the unique challenges faced by refugees in Jordan and the broader Middle East.

Dr. Osama Saadeh and Dr. Mohamad Khawaja were the guest professors from the Hydrogen Engineering programme and delivered lectures on ‘A Baseline Long Term Technoeconomic Electricity Supply Model for Highly Regulated Fuel Importing Countries: Case of Jordan’ and ‘Renewable Energy Status and Regulations in the MENA Region to Explore Green Hydrogen Production.’ These presentations emphasized the future of renewable energy and hydrogen production in the MENA region, aligning with the programme’s goal to prepare future engineers for a sustainable energy transition. The professors, alongside THWS’s Prof. Dr. Arnulf Hörtnagl, visited THWS laboratories, including the Lab for Electrical Machines and Power Semiconductors, led by Prof. Dr. Mercedes Herranz Gracia. They also viewed the hydrogen-powered aircraft Taifun 17 H₂, scheduled to receive its flight permit this year.

A boat tour on the Main River with breathtaking views of Würzburg’s vineyards was the event’s highlight, offering guests the chance to network with over 50 international professionals. International Teaching Week at THWS continues to provide an excellent platform for students and teaching staff to exchange ideas, broaden their intercultural perspectives, and foster academic connections globally.
