Prerequisite for studying
Specifying requirements ensures that all students are optimally prepared for the challenges of their studies and have a solid basis for their academic and professional development.
German university entrance requirements:
General university entrance qualification, or
- Advanced technical college entrance qualification or
- entrance qualification for a Bachelor's degree programme at universities of applied sciences recognised as equivalent by law or by the competent Bavarian state authority
Subject-related university entrance qualification
(also conveyed by the GJU pre-year) or
and additional to all mentioned cases German & English language skills (see below)
Pre-year at the German Jordanian University (GJU)
The pre-year at GJU opens the door to the THWS programme. Since most school degrees available in Jordan will not give direct access to German universities, THWS and GJU have jointly designed a pre-year that will qualify you without losing any time. Its two semesters will be fully accredited towards the first two semesters of the degree programme and will not extend your study time.
In addition to foundational technical courses, students will be trained in the German language by GJU in one of the biggest German language centres worldwide.

Notes:
- Passed exams at the German Language Center of the GJU will be accepted as proof.
- Arabic language skills are an advantage for practical components in the second semester, but not mandatory.
Required English skills
- At least B2 English certificate (or TOEFL: at least 72) prior to the GJU pre-year
- If no relevant English certificate is present at the enrollment time:
Successful passing of the placement test offered by the GJU (demonstration of English language skills on B2 level or a level that can be raised to B2 by a single regular GJU English course
Note: Affected students must expect to carry an overload in this respect! Admission in the German programme requires the submission of one relevant English language certificate at the time of application at THWS.
